19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, managing just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.
His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.
Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's first trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from that period of the previous year.
Victory also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one various competitions.
"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to win a title is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six finals, including in that event in the past months.
Medvedev's retrieving play style and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his ability to perform at the top level was concluded.
However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an better service.
Medvedev came back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.
The opponent defended four early chances in a close final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Suitably, he secured the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
